What is Dialectical Behavioral Therapy?
Many of us feel uncomfortable with emotions. At times this discomfort comes from feeling like we don’t know what to do with them or how to handle them effectively. DBT is a system of behavioral focused therapy that can increase self-confidence, self-respect, and emotion management capabilities.
Driven by growth
Because skills are learned, oftentimes we may not know they exist! Maybe we are stuck in what we learned from our parents and the generations before us. DBT gives specific tools to help work through complex emotions and can be an incredibly supportive environment where a person can process challenges such as anxiety, behavioral concerns, grief, trauma, family transitions, and social difficulties.
At our Christian Counseling Center in College Station, TX, DBT is grounded in evidence-based practices while honoring biblical values and principles when requested. Through carefully selected skills, activities, and therapeutic techniques, Adults and teens can build emotional resilience, develop healthy coping skills, improve relationships, and grow in confidence.
In the DBT process we provide guidance, support, and practical tools that help children thrive both at home and in everyday life.
If you're looking for Christian informed Dialectical Behavioral Therapy in College Station, our compassionate therapists are here to help you experience healing, growth, and hope.
Not all DBT is the same.
Certified DBT therapists go above and beyond basic training in this approach.
To earn the right to be called a Certified DBT therapist (Evergreen Certifications), you are required to engage in 500 direct client hours of providing DBT, spend 30 additional credit hours towards learning DBT, and read 4 Full books/manuals on the system of DBT.
In order to maintain this designation, each C-DBT therapist must complete 24 hours of DBT focused and approved coursework every two years to stay on the front lines of excellent care.
Upward Counseling Collective is proud to be the home of Travis Long, LPC ( C-DBT).
